So I was just wondering whether I should get a T8300 or T9300. They are only 0.1ghz apart but the real difference is the 3mb L2 Cache. Does the additional 3mb L2 Cache really justify an extra $90 dollars(Newegg)? Or, would it be more reasonable to just buy the T8300?

I'm not trying to save every penny but also don't like wasting money on something which is unnecessary as well. Which one do you think would be the better buy assuming I'm going to be keeping my laptop for a good 4 years, although I suppose there is always the possibility of upgrading again later.

the additional 3mb of cache does not really do anything for you.
You are better off saving the $90 and put the money towards another component such as a faster harddrive, or more memory.

I think $90 is a fair price for that upgrade, sometimes upgrades are priced crazy. That said do you need it? Depends what you do. But I suspect the overall difference would be less than 10% on average so without a stopwatch very hard to tell. And what K-Tron said is correct having enough RAM 3GB+ Vista and a fast HDD will show better performance than CPU upgrade but if you can afford it all, about 10%, is that worth $90? paladin44 from PowerNotebooks said yesterday you really only start being able to notice a difference at 15%-20%.
