    T9300
    P9500

Which one is better? Is the P9500 worth the extra $50? What difference will the 25W Power usage have on the Proformace?
Will this work on a Toshiba X205?
What does T and P Stand for?
    Thanks.

The P9500 will be comparatively cooler (esp when stressed or under load), so less fan noise; lower power consumption - so more battery life.

Yeah, it is worth an extra $50.

    No affect on performance whatsoever.

    The P9500 won't work in the X205.

    T - Standard Voltage
    P - Medium Voltage

The T9400 won't work as well.

Only the 800MHz Penryns will work in that laptop. The T9400 and P9500 have a bus speed of 1066MHz. The X205-SLI5 has a PM965 chipset, which is only compatible with CPUs having a bus speed of 800MHz.

    I think the stock X205-S7483 comes with a T5450.

T5500 is a different CPU, and not compatible with the X205.

Anyway, comparing the T5450 (Merom) and the T9300 (Penryn), the T9300 will save you a bit of battery mainly due to the newer architecture and the 45nm process. Both have the same TDP of 35W. But Penryns generally undervolt much better than most Meroms, so if your T9300 is able to undervolt well, you'll save quite a bit on battery life, and reduce load temps as well.

    I guess you have the X205-S7483 ?
Updating the BIOS to the latest version will be a good idea.

And performance boost will be mainly in CPU-intensive tasks.
