Is it worth the wait to get the penryn T8300 in a dell xps m1530?

How much of a difference will the t8300 have over the t7500?

I am not if it would have difference in performance. If you want to get the processor right away please get t7xxx, but if want to wait for a few months before you get a review of the new t8xxx or t9xxx, i suggest you go for the new penryn.

I don't think its worth the wait myself. Intel is kicking new chips out like cookies and I'm not sure theres that drastic a change in say a T7500 and a T7700 but people had to have it at release because it was a NEW chip. I think your going to pay top price for the 8300 when it hits the market just to have ANOTHER chip come out right behind it. The T7500 is a great chip and it can be had NOW at a decent price.

I don't think the wait is really that long. Not worth it, but still; penryns are just around the corner.

actually penryns are already in the clevo/compal derivatives - all the way up to t9500... however the t9300 seems to be the replacement of t7500 - and on paper it looks quite well. let's just wait a moment for them to become widely used and the prices should be appropriate as well.

Penryns are all over. Maybe a little performance boost but I think the main diff clock for clock is power savings and less heat.

Yeah the power savings are important especially since the battery life on laptops is already a pretty big factor; the lower heat is good if you're going to OC your hardware too :)

I just removed a T5450 1.67 GHz from my Gateway P-6831FX and installed a T7500 2.20 GHz. My score on 3DMARK before was 7100 and after the upgrade its 8320.. Im very happy with this chip!!
