I am looking at getting a laptop and was wondering if having the intel core 2 duo t7500 will have much advantage over the t5450. I do a lot of photoshop, flash, and illustrator work.

Oh and if you have an opinon on screen size as well. I am going to get a 15" but not sure if I should get a 1280 x 800 or a 1680 x 1050

i think u shud go for the t7500 if u are a good gamer...........video editer.....or graphics enthusiast.....i have seen the t5450 processor is slow in many circumstances.........the t7500 gives u a good edge....go for it.......according to me for a 15" screen 1280x800 is more than sufficient.......

Are those the only 2 choices? I say the 5450 is a tad bit slow for what you want, and the 7500 is somewhat overkill. Somewhere in the middle would be best for what you do.

For photoshop and lots of multitasking it is better to get the higher res screen just for the increased desktop real estate.

For your needs, a faster processor and a higher resolution screen would suit you better. So, yeah, T7500 and 1680x1050.

    Go for the T7500.

I upgraded the T5450 in my Gateway to a T7500, and I don't regret it one bit. I use my laptop mainly for RAW conversions in Adobe Lightroom.

Generally speaking, Adobe Photoshop itself isn't that computationally intensive (the basic stuff you can do with it) and will run great on a T5450. Some of the plugins and filters are though, and can bring a slower CPU to it's knees. Adobe Lightroom on the other hand is very computationally intensive and will take advantage of every CPU cycle you can give it. The price differential between a T5450 and T7500 is small enough that it shouldn't be a factor either.

Go for the T7500, and while you're at it, throw in as much memory as you can afford.

I just removed a T5450 1.67 GHz from my Gateway P-6831FX and installed a T7500 2.20 GHz. My score on 3DMARK before was 7100 and after the upgrade its 8320.. Im very happy with this chip!!

T7500 is just over 1/3 more clocks and the increased L2 adds about on average 3.5% increase up to 10% on some apps so up to about 37% to 43% improvement! Not bad if the price is right! And I agree with what adinu said. And jrcoker is the testimonial for it. Does any of this matter to you? Depends what you have now? I mean it is all relative, know what I mean?

Try your T5450 first, if it's stock. Mine ran CS3 extended just fine and it shows up my old T2400 in video encoding. The T5450 may hold you over until later in the year to check out up coming CPU's

Upgrading from the 5450 to 7500 isn't that much of a jump. Personally, i'd wait until a Penryn shows up at the 7500 price point.
