I have been attempting to upgrade my T42's puny 40gb hd to a 120gb 5400rpm fujitsu drive for the past few days now.

At first I thought I could just clone the disc over to the new one in my Apricorn usb enclosure, so that's what I tried. Unsucessfully.

I found online that you need to swap the drives before you do the clone with any software, so now I get it. And I know I need to make the predesktop visible.

Now the problem is that the Apricorn EzGig software doesn't regognize that I have two drives attached.

Windows is having a similar problem. My first impulse was to reformat that new drive but when that one is in the usb enclosure, I can only see it from the device manager.

The device manager detects that there is a usb hard disc storage device attached, but it won't show up when I right click My Computer and bring up the Drive Management window. And it doesn't show up as a usable drive.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers

I can feel both drives spinning in either enclosure.

The weird thing is that it worked once, the first time, when I didn't know I had to switch the hard drives.

Help solving any part of this would be greatly appreciated.

So Disk Management doesn't allow you to partition the new drive?

Correct. Disk Management doesn't even recognize that I have a second drive attached.

Another thing, I've tried using an AC adapter with the usb enclosure, so power isn't an issue.
