    Hi guy's,

A friend of mine is having a strange problem with his lappy. The lappy is a Paradigit Voyager 9458 (yes it is a brand that is assembled in The Netherlands).

It has a Pentium M 1.6 GHz processor in it, intel wireless pro 40 gig fujitsu hdd etc.

The problem is that sometimes when it starts to boot it gets stuck at the hardware test page just before XP starts up you can hear the CPU cooling fan stop working. If it does get passed that stage then everything seems to be working nice and then it suddenly shuts down. And somtimes it just keeps on rebooting at the hardware test page just before starting XP.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

For whats it worth, I just replaced a MoBo on a Compaq nx6125 for just about the same issue.

The computer would boot sometimes past the post screen but not finish loading the OS. Other times it wouldn't even make it past the post screen. After about ten times of pushing the power button on and off, it would finally boot and things would work just fine until the next time I needed to boot and the whole process would start over again.

You could try a new HD and try changing the RAM as well. But if neither of those seem to fix the issue, a new MoBo or computer might be in order.

For a possible practical solution try getting him to hibernate instead of shut down. It avoids the booting part!
