    So, I've got a gaming laptop, Acer g9 (593) (core i7, Nvidia 1070, Windows 10, 16gb ram, two m.2 ssd's and 1 hdd)

First thing first, listen to this video:

So in my case, it's coming from the right speaker, and most other owners also have this in the right speaker, but one person showed that his laptop was buzzing from the left one.

Its definitely coming from the speaker, not the chokes. Because if you physically disconnect speaker from the motherboard, the issue will be gone. Well, symptoms.

Now for the things that actually launches this buzzing sound. It's definitely some load, but it's totally random:

    • My friend is getting this in some heavy games like battlefield 1 and ghost recon wildlands, while i can play them without any issues.

    • But my video above shows a situation where I was downloading games from steam + copying some files from external hdd, and this started this buzz.

    • Also, I got some little buzz when I was playing no mans sky.

    • And the last thing, I'm getting a loud buzz when I connect my pc to 4k tv via usb-c 2 hdmi cable. At first, I thought that cable was a crap from ali-express but that's not the case as I see now. If i used generic hdmi 2 hdmi connection, no buzz sound.

Buzz sound doesn't appear immediately. It slowly grows. And when you disable an app that caused it, buzz sound will slowly fade away. Laptop reboot kills buzz immediately.

On the official ACER forum, people get in touch with the support center and they just replace the motherboard. This solves the issue, but my concern is that none of us had buzz sound when the laptop was new. We all started getting this after 11 months of use.

Soooooooo, sorry for this long read, but what's your thought on this? Whan can cause such a strange issue? Something overheating? But why it can appear even on file copy, and won't appear on heavy use in some cases?

Cleaning out the laptop and check the insides for anything abnormal would be your first thing to do.
Or maybe just crap QA/QC and manufacturing.
If you want to save some time, bring it to a Acer service provider.

    I'm off the warranty...

The only solution is to disconnect the speaker:

If that happens with headphones too then external DAC will help.
I had clicking sound in every frame when SLI was active. Bought DAC/AMP from Fiio and it eliminated the noise, plus made the sound way better.

    Just a recap and update:

In one year of use, many owners of this laptop started getting incremental buzz sound from speakers. After some digging, I found out that something on motherboard overheats (looks like it’s a south bridge) and affect the sound system. You can turn fans to maximum and this will force buzz sound to fade away as laptop cools down. Or you can disconnect laptop speakers from the motherboard, this will also solve the issue. Headphones work perfectly.

We had a big thread on Acer forum and first official answer was to bring a laptop to service. They’ve just replaced the motherboard to some users, but issue returned after a ~8 month of use.

This is definitely a HW issue, cause this buzzing sound happens even in laptop bios. And funny thing is, Acer just closed thread and refused to fix laptops that were out of warranty.
