So for some reason, before, when I connected my headphones into my laptop to play a game, all the sounds except for the game would play through the headphones.

I fixed it, but forgot what I did.

Now, there is no sound through the speakers of the system, and I can only hear sound when I connect my headphones.

    How do I fix this?

Which operating system are you running when you try this? If it happens when running Windows 7, try installing the Boot Camp software or reinstalling it if you already have it installed. If in OS X, check the sound preferences and make sure everything is in check there. Judging by the specs of your system, I'm guessing you have an Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15-inch. Depending on when you bought your system, you may still have a bit of warranty left, so if the problem persists, try bringing it to either your local Apple Store or a local Apple Authorized service center.

have you looked into right clicking on the volume button in task bar and going to playback devices and seeing which is default? This is if your using windows 7. I always have to make my bluetooth speaker or headphones default each time i want to use one because it doesn't auto switch when i turn headphones on.

also if one program is on speakers and other is on headphones try closing program and reopening and playing around with switching defaults...that happens to me some times
