    Sony Vaio and HP Pavil: Why the different i5 speed?

    Although these are two different computers, this thread is mainly about the hardware (the i5)

    in this link, we can see that the sony processor only says 1.20 ghz

    However in this link we see that the hp processor says 2.26 ghz

    What gives? Why is the same processor having different speeds in different computers?? Am i missing something? Are these speeds actually not so different? Help!

    Of course Lithus is correct. UM designations are for Ultra-light, stamina oriented notebooks. They are drastically undervolted and underclocked versions of the original CPU, and perform as such. For battery life and heat though, they work great.

    thank you sirs. that only has an effect on video games correct? 1.2 is great for hulu, youtube, and basic things for the average user correct?

    yeah the i5 ULV will be more than enough for normal uses but if ur gaming regular i5 processor is what u want at least...but if the regular is cheaper , get that instead if battery life isn't a consideration.

    what about an i3? Is that capable of doing all that regular stuff in full screen & what not?

    I Wish there was a guide on what processor you need to do what functions
