 I'm considering getting a faster HDD 4 my VAIO FS315S, currently has a 100GB HDD spinnin' @ 4200rpm, so l'd wanna get one of those blazin 7200rpm HDDs'. Problem is, is it possible 2 pluck out the old drive considering that Sony does rarely leave you with (later) upgrading options. I did manage to upgrade the memory to 2GB(maximum), so l figured l'd as well reach over 2 the HDD department... ANY inputs will be greatly appreciated

Yeap, just take the old HD out and the new one in. Put the old one in a 2.5" enclosure and now, you have a portable HD :)

Just remember to put the 4200 back in if it is in need for repairs!

The hard drives are pretty standard. You shouldn't run into any problems.

You should be fine, you can also clone your hard drive if you want everything from your old drive or just do a clean install. A 100GB 5400 rpm drive would give you near 7200 rpm performance unless you want to fork out the extra $80 to get the 100GB 7200 Hitachi ;).

Thank you all for your inputs, but now how do l get 2 the HDD itself on the FS315S? Do l have 2 dis-assamble the whole unit as l can't seem to locate the exact position of the HDD? I've decided to settle 4 the Hitachi 7K100 7200RPM HDD.... Thanx again
