    I have a VGN-TZ1RXN/B Sony Vaio TZ. ....

    I was hoping I could put an SSD drive in this beast or at the very least a faster drive. the drive that came in it is dog slow.

    any hope of doing that? does that board support sata?

    According to this it's an IDE (ATA) drive.
