    Hello,

I am planning on upgrading the stock 2Gb RAM on my Sony Vaio SZ650N/C to 4Gb. I'm looking at this one. I'll be paying about $100 for the pack of two 2Gb sticks. Being the noob that I am, I have some questions:

    1. Will there be any noticeable speed increase by going from 2Gb to 3.34Gb (the amount Windows Vista 32-bit supports)?
    2. Any compatibility problems I should worry about with this RAM and this notebook?
    3. How easy is the installation and will there be any warranty issue?

I'd appreciate any input anyone may have, especially from Sony SZ6 owners. Thanks in advanced. :)

Why are you getting PC6400 RAM? While it should work it will downclock to PC 5300/5400 speeds. Any thoughts of using it on an Intel notebook in the future my be dashed if Intel switches to the DDR3 for 800Mhz.

the Santa Rosa platform doesnt support pc6400 ram, even though it's got a 800mhz fsb... you should look for deals on pc5300/5400 ram...i found 2gb sticks a couple weeks ago for $26 each after rebate.

The crucial tool is not always correct I would get PC5300/5400 and try and save money. It will work just as well and fast as PC6400 on your notebook.

    Its only a recommendations so...

According to intel, the Intel Mobile 965 chipset supports memory up to DDR2-667 so as the above mentioned, if you put DDR-800 ram in your system, it will downclock to DDR2-667 speeds.

So unless its cheaper then DDR2-667 ram, there is no point in getting it.

Also look at the Hot ram deals thread for deals on ram.

I think I'll go with the DDR2-800 because they work out to be cheaper than the 667 MHz ones (the prices in the hot RAM thread don't apply to me because I'm Canadian).

    Thanks for all the help.

You can buy from TigerDirect or Frys.com (they both ship to Canada).

    BTW, I bought this 4GB set: http://shop1.outpost.com/product/5284717

    Extremely satisified. :)

looks good! If you had AMD Turion X2 it would run at 800Mhz.
