Do any of you guys have this laptop? mine is the one with the 8600gt card in it.
Its coming with no ram and no hdd but I have a nice ssd and 4gig of ram for it.

I cant find much about it on the internet but i like the look of it and its going to be much faster than my hp one that I got now!

has anyone done a gpu swap on it? I know it has a mxm slot and maybe i could put a more powerful gpu in there like a 9600gt or something. This is going to be my primary PORTABLE computer...I already have a really fast desktop machine.

if anyone has this or knows anything about it please share :)

toshibas do not use mxm, they use proprietary slots, so no gpu swapping. best you could do is ram + cpu upgrade + ssd.

potentially one would fit, the biggest problem is the slot is reversed, so the notch is on the other side.

Certain Qosmios/high end Satellite models use a proprietary form of MXM, maybe upgradable only to another Toshiba card. I can move this to the Toshiba subforum if you so wish.

I don't think the ASUS one will work, AFAIK they only work in ASUS (they reverse engineered MXM) and also it will have ASUS vBios on it, so you will need to mod that even if it was compatible.

not to mention power consumption, your MXM slot may have a power consumption limit. There are too many variables that are unaccounted for, so upgrading your gfx would be a shot in the dark with a low chance of success.
