Hi, right now I'm looking at laptops like this. Is 1GB good enough with the 288MB shared or should I get more? I'm thinking about playing games like Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike. My friend said WoW runs pretty well on his which is almost exactly the same laptop but just a little older. I'm in no rush to buy a laptop so I'm wondering if there is new hardware coming out for laptops between now and the end of summer when I will go off to college.

If your needs are not very demanding, new hardware won't matter. Also, taking out one of the RAM and added a 1GB (a total of 1.5 GB) would be a good idea.

If you are in no rush then wait. There is always new hardware coming out, but it seldom causes rapid changes at the price range you are looking. I do suggest waiting because even if a step up in harware doesn't actually come into your price range, the price of notebooks with the features you are looking at will drop. Wait 6 months and then you will not only go to college with a brand spanking new notebook but with some extra $$$$ also. Thats something every college student needs.

Delayed gratification, if only I had practiced that 10 years earlier. I might be driving a BMW instead of a pontiac.
