Hi, great info here..It's got an t5250 1.5 ghz and was wondering if it would be worth it to bother upgrading it?

My main concern is mkv file playback,in specific 1080 p movies. I can play them with cpu hitting in the 70's but was wondering if I upgraded if i could get better performance?

I already have core avc and such, but with cpu's being cheaper, was wondering if an upgrade would be worthwhile?

I was looking at laptop king and i could get a t5750 2.0 ghz for around $94..Is is a worthwhile increase?

Should I stick with a cpu that has 667 mhz front side bus or I can go higher?

    Any info is appreciated!!

alot of video decoding nowadays is offloaded to the GPU so the CPU doesnt affect decoding as much, however i assume you have an intergrated chip, therefore the cpu does affect decoding (i think).

the difference between those processors isnt much, if i were you i'd look at the t7xxx processors like the t7200 these will be a bigger difference.

Also try VLC player as it may be smoother (google it)

thanks for replies..new is not an option..Laptop is more than fine..

Everything plays perfect, even 1080p thru zoomplayer,my fav...I guess you could say I just want to create some more headroom..Is it necessary, not really, but why not.

So going to a higher front side bus doesn't matter? What about a t8100 if this is true..Can be had for $112.

And yes you are correct, it usea the intel gma 3100.Actually which is very nice..There are programs that allow you to output Full HD res's if your display can handle with that chipset..

Monitor the CPU utilization (both cores) in task manager when running HD content. Do both cores max out at 100% ?

You can upgrade the CPU to a T8300/T9300/T9500. Those are good options, if you can find good deals.

Also, try upgrading the HDD to a 160GB/platter 7200RPM drive, as that will provide a good boost in performance.

I would upgrade it. I swapped out mine for a t7100 and noticed a decent preformance jump.
