I noticed some rather large gaps in the heatsinks and fans in the m18x R2. I sealed these up as much as I could using high temp electrical tape.... It was hard to get into the sides and figuring out how to best seal the bottom but Ill report back how it does later after I do some gaming and let it sit idle also for an hour or more. If I could figure out how to remove just the bottom casing so better get to the heatsink it could be sealed much better. Even from a complete tear down it does not look like you are able to remove and replace the heatsink and fan as a single unit....

Pic so you can see better what im talking about. Pop off the back cover and youll see the large gaps. Hope it helps the cooling!

look forward to seeing the results though about trying something similar on the 5920g, the gpu heat sink has a rather odd angle ad dumps the air right behind VGA ad networking ports.

if all else fails you can do it with Kapton tape.

Easily found on eBay (if you're in the US that is). Kapton is a brand, if you can't find Kapton tape, look for polyimide tape, kinda like PTFE and teflon are the same thing, but teflon is a brand owned by DuPont.

I did the samething on my m15x with a thin hvac foil tape. I used kaplan on a g73 which noted differences. The m15x never showed an improvement from the tape but overall its cooling is better than the g73. Can't compare to the m18x but clevo owners sure have shown positive gains :) Best of luck bro!

As I said above, look for polyimide tape, that is the name of the polymer used to make the tape, Kapton is just a brand name, not the material itself.

This was done on many Clevo laptops due to the gap and sealing it helped in some instances.

Like i said my laptop is horrendous on the GPU side of the heat sink, either way this is interesting i'm going to have to have look at it again and see if it can seal any thing up even on the cpu side.

I wish I could seal mine, but unfortunately the way the heatsink, motherboard, and case close together, it is impossible.

Finally got around to toying with it.

    5920G Cooling mods - Imgur

on the cpu side i was able to fold over the corner on side the other side has a screw hole and i cut around it and didn't think to try and fold that side in. I also didn't really doucment my temps, i only remeber my max temps during stress testing and general idea of my gpu temps during normal use.
