Seagate 600 Series 480GB available @ ebuyer for £160. I'm thinking about upgrading my work computer and thinking about buying Seagate 600 480GB version. I checked couple of review sites and it seems performance is better than M500. What do you guys think about the drive?

How do the prices compare there? I can get them both for $230 (£139) here.

What I like to see, Steady State performance it does well. Compare the last graph on both links. They both do very well. The Seagate's numbers are higher beginning at about QD3.

And in this link it does well when pushed hard "worst case" it doesn't fall off much.

For a value drive, it does well. The key would be the price. It's not a top choice if performance, in a heavier than average workload, is your goal. It handles an average workload well.

We need to pay 20% tax so... price is very good. I just checked couple of user reviews @ amazon usa/uk and it seems performance is good, but reliability is average. BTW thanx for the links.

You're welcome. I looked at Newegg too. It got 80% 4-5 eggs, 21 out of 180 1 egg (one was an update). The M500 got 89% 4-5 eggs, 15 out of 200 1 egg. I prefer Newegg reviews that come from verified owners, giving them a little more weight. I might do a little more review reading if the sale lasts a little longer. I always go to the negatives first. ;)

 Homework - always the best choice. That deal may come back too and it's the best of both worlds.
