    I have this laptop http://laptops.specout.com/l/5865/L50D-BST2NX2
I recently purchased this RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231708 as an upgrade to the Samsung 4GB 1600 CAS11 stick that came with it.
However after installing, CPUz, HWinfo, and Speccy all show that the ram is running at 1600Mhz 9-9-10-28.
My UEFI/BIOS is very minimal, there are no XMP options.
Is there anything I can do to get the new RAM to run at rated speed? or am I SOL?

EDIT: looking at windows 8.1 task manager I noticed it shows my RAM speed as 1866. Now I'm confused.

I'm not an expert but, the Newegg page says the new RAM timing is 10-10-10-32, presumably at the clock rate of 1833MHz.
    10/1833e6 = 5.4555e-9 (ns)
    9/1600e6 = 5.625e-9 (ns)
So it looks like the benefit is only 3% anyway. Lower clocks may save a little power for better battery life.

I do not use the battery, this laptop is plugged in 100% of the time. I game on it when out of town and wanted the extra RAM performance for he iGPU. I'm mainly annoyed that it defaulted to the lowest JEDEC profile and has no UEFI RAM options. AMD overdrive has RAM timing options but the program does not recognize this processor or motherboard.

For light gaming, you're fine. Upgrading the RAM would be worth doing. Apologies for sounding abrasive. Do be mindful of this machine's limitations. I'd get another 4GB RAM minimum and even consider more if you can add it. It would help with the performance.

No it wasn't Kent T, but thanks for taking the time to glaze over my post and point that out as if I had thought my $375 was buying a gaming laptop.
Another AMD=Slow buy intel troglodyte eh. ignorance is expensive.
If you are what passes for a "notebook deity" around here then this site isn't worth my time.

See revised post. Do upgrade the RAM, you'll benefit from improved performance some. Your GPU would be OK for light gaming use and maybe a bit beyond.
