In their new 7 series laptops Samsung has incorporated 8GB express cache. 8GB, placed directly on the motherboard, is used to store most read files, like Momentus XT.

Performance seems similar as the XT as the 7 series boots in ~19 seconds.

Big benefit of this system is that the hard drive can be easily replaced with a cheap HDD w/o NAND.

There ya go. Good solution. Only issue is if different manufacturers do this, which one has the best / worst algorithm and cause issues?

Seems like they are also implementing something similar to mSATA drives for some desktop mobos.

Uses Diskeepers' ExpressCache program for SSD caching, program license is only available to OEM manufacturers and not for consumers download/retail.

All that's left is the main 2.5" HDD itself used, Hitachi/Western Digital would be best and the SSD being used MLC/SLC, read/write performance, etc.
