    Hi,

I have tried to install the software that comes with the SSD a number of times, and each time the grey window that you see while installation dissapears to the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.Pointing to that icon/minimized window a small popup comes up where you can usually restor,e maximize or close the window- in this case it does nothing.Using the windows task manager is the only way to stop the installation running.
I have spoken to samsung and they have told me it is a clash with the antivirus.I have stopped the auto scan as well as the manual scans.Notthing has changed. They have also told me that using 3rd party cloning software could be harmful to software on the samsung SSD.

    What is causing the problem?

Another question: Is there a way of using this SSD in an external enclosure as a backup drive rahter than as a replacement C drive installed into a laptop??

    Thanks

Many times, to effectively disable A/V you need to uninstall it completely.

I would be wary of installing the Magician software on your specific installation - it isn't needed and the potential for catastrophic failure is high(er) when simply trying to install it is causing you so much grief.

Buy an external enclosure and install the SSD inside. I would recommend an USB3.0 enclosure or higher. I've had great results with Vantec products.
