If you want to replace the standard drive icons in Windows with your Samsung SSD's icon, simply download this ZIP file which contains all the icons, then place the *.ICO and autoruns.inf file in the root of the drive then reboot.

You will then see the drive icons such as the below example:

Note: The 840/840 PRO/850 PRO use the same icon since the drives are exactly the same from the exterior

That's pretty cool. How do you make & encode the .ico files? I tried a few times in GIMP with different size images & different encoding options, but my .ico files never worked right.

    There's no encoding envolved bro

    1) Grab the image of your SSD through googling your SSD name on the web then choose an appropriate image like the ones shown above which are vertical

    2) Go here to convert it from JPG/PNG to ICO: Online icon converter for png, ico, and icns - iConvertIcons

    3) Select the 64x64 size then download it

    4) Go again to Online icon converter for png, ico, and icns - iConvertIcons and convert the new 64x64 icon to ICO

    5) now you have the image, just edit the Autoruns.inf file with the image file name you just created
