Hi, I broke my laptop screen and im in the process of looking for a new one but im not clued up on what one i should get. I have a 15.4 WXGA screen but im told that i cant just buy any WXGA screen and that the numbers on the back have to be the same. The number on the back is LP154WX4, does that mean anything or will most screen fit my laptop?

I assume you don't have a warranty that would cover this?

What laptop are we talking about?
Many laptops were available with an array of different resolution screens.
As long as the screen is coming from the same model laptop, it will work. They will all use the same ribbon cable regardless of the resolution difference there may be.

I have an Acer 5720 and the screen resolution is 1200 by 800 so does that mean if i match the resolution i'll be fine?

As long as you don't have a Dell you should be OK using a different a screen (different made and ref. number).

If you have a Dell you should stick with the same screen made and reference as your original one. Otherwise you'll have incompatibility issues.

Still looking for a screen. Keep getting outbid. grrrrrrr.

And i was going to ask if there was two different sizes of 15.4 screen but im editing this now because i've found out the W in WXGA mean widescreen.

    Doh!

    Gersfan,

When you purchase one make sure you TRIPLE check the model number from the ebay posts... I've seen incorrect information on ebay over 100 times.... Also, if you need a guide for that model, let me know.

If the OP hasn't a Dell laptop there is 95% chance that he can replace his screen by any other 15.4" screen.
