Replacement Battery for Dell Inspiron 1520 - SPECS? Where and what are best?

Anyways, looking to buy new replacement battery for my Dell Inspiron 1520

Looked up specs on Dell's site and could only find following for Original:

Part#? GR995 Panasonic 85 whr, 9 cell, Lithium

Are there any other important specs that that is missing that I need to match when selecting new purchase?
What about mAh and voltage ???
Will 2 different batteries, possibly each with same 85 whr, have different mAh and or voltage - which would greatly affect battery runtime?

Finally, what are some places and/or mfr's that you guys would recommend for a replacement battery for a:
Dell Inspiron 150
9 cell
85 whr

This is the right forum for batteries. I can move the thread elsewhere if you're not getting enough replies.

I'd caution against buying anything but an OEM (Dell) battery. Aftermarket batteries aren't built to the same tolerances as OEM batteries designed for a specific notebook; the same goes for power adapters. My search on ebay for "Dell Inspiron 1520 battery" returned over 700 results ... pick through the available batteries carefully. You may want to look up the part numbers on Dell's site and use those for searching. The original batteries will say "DELL" on them - take the battery out of your notebook and look at it (the part number should also be listed on it).

 

Don't get anything but a Dell battery or Power Adapter. AFA the batteries go, like Charles said, aftermarket batteries may not be made to the same specs as the OEM batteries. Plus, I've seen what cheap knockoff batteries do in cars when they fail (think KABOOM!).

For PSUs, Dell (and Alienware) are notorious in making their systems compatible with only their PSUs by way of identification chips inside the power adapter which transmits the signal along the power cable to the motherboard. In short, just get the Dell brand PSU and battery. BE VERY WARY OF GETTING USED/REMAN BATTERIES OFF eBay (or any other 3rd party retailer not associated with Dell). I'm not saying that some of those batteries being auctioned aren't decent replacements, but for every good reman battery being sold on eBay, there are 10 more cheap knockoffs wrapped in the Dell OEM battery shell, waiting to fail.

I did search Dell and could not find any replacement batteries, figured they stopped producing them..?

Wonder if other non-Dell stores might have oem dell batteries?

 

You may need to call Dell up and ask if they've got any replacement batteries for sale. They will undoubtedly ask you for your service tag number.

You most definitely can look at third party retailers (i.e. eBay) for OEM Dell Batteries. You would search and verify the correct battery using the Dell part number of your battery. 3rd party retailers is a hit and miss though, like I explained before. They could be giving you a mostly dead and unusable battery or a knockoff inside the OEM battery's plastic shell.
