I was wondering how easy it is to get spare parts for laptops. At some point, the laptop will go out of warranty or break. I was wondering how easy or economical it is to find spare parts and repair it myself.

Are Dell pretty much the easiest to find parts for since there are so many of them?

Well you can find parts on ebay. Most of the time the laptop is too old to even bother to fix up.

what tim said. it's usually not cost effective to repair a notebook after a couple years. by then, you can usually buy a new one for a little more than the parts would cost you.

you can get spare parts from ebay or dell spare parts.

Basically the big problem with MOST laptops is that when something goes wrong, the "fix" is to replace the mainboard (assuming the RAM, Hard Drive etc are okay).

Motherboards aren't worth fixing, just cheaper and easier to buy a new laptop.
