So I'm looking at getting a 24" or so monitor. Ideally I'd go for a 22" tri-monitor setup, but the lack of space and graphical power don't allow it.

In my monitor I'm looking for 16:10, great colour accuracy (doesn't have to be IPS, but a TN panel will need to be really good), and price, obviously.

Something like the ASUS PA246Q, but far, far cheaper. Dell is offering their e-IPS U2412M for $300 and that's not a bad deal for a 1900x1200 panel, but ideally I'd like to go cheaper, even if it means hitting the 23" territory.

    Any ideas?

24", 16:10, great colour accuracy and less than $300?

    No such beast exists. :(

Even the e-IPS Dell you mention has 'horrible' colour - if that is indeed important to you.

It is true that the U2412M does not have the quality of professional IPS panels, but it isn't bad either. I'd consider it a decent monitor overall. To the OP, if you are looking for excellent color accuracy for photo editing, art design of some sort, you are going to have to up your budget. If you aren't looking for professional quality monitor, but for something that is considered decent, then i'd say that the U2112M properly calibrated would fall in that category. The same goes for monitors like the LG IPS236V.

Are there any recent 16:10 monitors, or are they all older models?

There are some recent ones, but a lot are pricy...
