    Dear Everybody,

I wanted to upgrade my memory. As you see, at the moment I have one Samsung 1 GB 533 MHz stick, and I wanted to buy another same. Unfortunately, no local shops offer 1GB 533 MHz, SO-DIMM memory.
So I also planned to buy then 2x1GB 667 MHz SO-DIMM. Will it be better? (I've heard a rumour, that although Core2Duo (Merom and nor Merom-2M) was designed for 667 MHz, but it works faster on 533, is it true, can someboy help me in that?) And to make things better, Fujtsu-Siemens writes that it can only accept 256,512 and 1024 MB 533 MHz memories.
The joke is that 2x1 GB 667 costs the same as 1GB533   .
MY other qustion is, that what brand would you choose, Samsung, Kingston or Kingmax (Kingston and Samsung can be bought in other shop than the service, but the service has only Kingmax and PQI)

    Thanks in advance!

I suggest you get 1 x 1GB 667MHz. This will downclock and run at 533MHz, most likely with CL = 4 (a measure of latency - time delay) if the existing module is CL = 4 (use the SPD page of CPU-Z to check). If you get 2 x 1GB 667MHz then they will run at 667MHz but at CL = 5, which is only slight faster.

If the present RAM is CL=5 then you might notice the speed difference, but I doubt it. The real difference comes from more RAM.

If they cost the same I would get 2X1GB PC5300/5400.

ENTER: DUH it's the 533 that is the same price (brain freeze), OK 1GB 667 is a good plan and will save a little money.

I'd agre with john, just get another 1GB sodimm of 667 and pop it in. It'll down-clock to 533 speeds, but as John said, it's the more ram that counts way more than the speed of the ram.

    Thanks for the answers!

I just checked, the memory is definitely CL4. But I would have only one problem with your suggestions. I definitely want to install two same memory sticks, firstly because Fujitsu-Siemens recommends it (but it's not an important one :D ), secondly because in my other computer I had two different memory sticks, and in some cases it could cause problems, slowing downs (only in my program :D ). So I would definitely choose 2x1 GB 667MHz, or 1 Gb 533 Mhz (which cannot be solved at the moment) (Money isn't important, 25 $ isn't a big difference)
My only problem is in the link provided, that Fujitsu states I can only use 533 MHz stick, while I can't understand why would be such a restriction???
    From Fujitsu's homepage:
"The AMILO Pi1536 uses SO-DIMM DDR2 memory modules with a 533MHz clock rate by default. At maximum an upgrade up to 2GB is possible. That means a 1GB module for each bank (2 banks available). You should mention that you use modules of the same manufacturer and of the same clock rate to avoid incompatibility."

So that's my problem, do you know what problem it could cause to use 667 instead??
And besides, do you know anything about the quality of Kingmax, Kingston an Samsung in comparison? Which one to choose?

    Thanks and thanks in advance!

it should be fine to put in DDR2-667, it will just run slower at 533 speed.
I usually go with Corsair, OCZ, Buffalo, they are all pretty comparable. (these just happen to be the cheapest around here).
