I'm looking to upgrade the ram in my e1705 eventually, it has 1024 (2x512). I was curious to whether or not I could purchase a 2gb ram stick (1x2048) like I am pretty sure is available in desktops. This will make upgrading down the road easier, in my opinion. (although I'm not even sure if the e1705 motherboard/bios supports 4gb, but I think it would).

I briefly checked newegg and didn't see anything like it just yet.

    Anyway, advice appreciated.

Honestly, unless you're doing something hefty with your machine, you won't use that much RAM. As to the max, I think with that one it's 2GB. Notebooks that support 4GB are just now starting to roll out.
