I feel stupid having to ask this but im still pondering why this ram wont work no matter how many times ive re-seated it. I had originally 2 512 mb ram sticks and i replaced them with 2 1g sticks, yet my computer is yet to read more than 1 gig of ram. Ive checked to make sure that both ram sticks are good and both slots are good. Anything you guys can suggest?

    Thanks in advance

Try them one at a time to make sure both sticks are good.

Have do you have any boot booster that came installed. A common issue with the EEE is that the RAM would not be recognized until the Bios was loaded then restarted with regular settings. Try that.

When you first start the computer get into the BIOS & see if you can load the defaults then restart & see if it detects all of it... you could search on the Gateway Support site for your laptop. Though it says 2 1GB sticks should work fine. You might want to call Gateway.
