Hi, I was wondering, would it be better just to get the the 2gb ram option, buy another 2gb stick and put it in myself, rather than just paying £153 for the 4gb ram option. Will putting my own ram in cause complications like blue screens, driver compatibility issues etc, or is it easy and trouble-free? In short, will there be any problems and is it risky to put your own ram into the m15x?

i fell for it.. :( cause i never bought RAM before so i didn't know AW's was a ripoff.. besides, i've always thought that buying 2x2Gb RAM together is cheaper than buying 'em separately. sigh.. oh well..

if you're concerned about compatibility issues, just buy it through AW so you won't have any headaches. but i doubt you will run into any problems because ram is pretty much plug-and-play.

If you haven't done it before, just make sure your well grounded (best to be safe than sorry, beware of static)

Alienware have even written a "how to" for you to follow :).

Save yourself nearly £100 and do it yourself, there won't be any compatability problems - if there are it will because the RAM is faulty, which then you would obviously return it and use your AW 2GB til it is replaced.

My fiancee changed her memory on her laptop (Acer) and I didn't show her a thing, she was determined to do it her self and she was extremely suprised how easy it is. Don't be put off :)
