i have an LG T1 that i plan on giving away to a friend after i get a new laptop some time this summer. the specs are T2400 @ 1.83GHz, 1.0GB RAM, 60GB 4,200 RPM HD. do you think it's worth upgrading the T1 to 2GB RAM/72,000 RPM HD? will i see a noticeable difference in speed even though it'll be used mostly for web browsing, word processing, watching movies, listening to music and storing pictures? thanks.

I think what you have is pretty overkill already for what the laptop will be used for. Hmm, except maybe for the 4,200rpm HDD. But upgrading the HDD to 7,200rpm will decrease battery life.

you will notice a HUGE performance improvement- but ONLY because of the hard drive. the other parts (despite being expensive) wont change your performance at all with those tasks.

You may want to upgrade the HDD to a 5400RPM one, but that is about it. My desktop has 512MB of DDR1 in it, and that is fine for most games, so 1GB should be good for web and docs.
