I am about to set a pair of 1TB Samsung mSATAs up in RAID0 for data storage and I want to be sure about the procedure to setup Over Provisioning for them. They will come with the OS already on them so they will not be 'clean'. I intend doing a clean install of Windows on a separate SSD that I will provide and which will be my boot drive. I will then delete everything on the RAID array and it is at that point that my knowledge and experience fail me.

Can I format the mSATAs while they are in RAID0 and then create my D Drive partition with a suitable amount of space left for OP or do I have to break up the RAID, format both mSATAs separately, create partitions on both leaving an amount free for OP on both and then RAID them up again? I am currently using about 1.3 TB on my data drive so I intend leaving about 15 - 25 % free for OP. Any comments and suggestions would be welcome.

It can all be done in RAID0. A number of ways you could do it. You could format the RAID0 and then just shrink your partition or delete it and create a new one while leaving unpartitioned space for your OP.

no need to break your RAID array, leave it as it is, which is 100% of your total mSATA SSD space, but only partition 80-85% of the total available space leaving the rest unpartitioned
