Since I intend to use my HDX primarily as a video editor, I would like to have the added security of including RAID 1's "mirror" capability in the event one drive should fail. However, I'm not sure if this is possible since the HDX was not designed with this particular configuration in mind. I'd also like to know if anyone has any suggestions as to the viability of adding RAID capability as an aftermarket add-on?

In addition, from what I understand, that there is a software version of RAID available via W7 Enterprise, Ultimate that could accomplish this same task.

    Any suggestions?

I created a software RAID 1 mirror of my 60gb ssd onto my 320gb Hitachi just playing around with disk management. I want to try RAID 0 when my $149 X-18M comes in a few days. You have to make both disks dynamic first by right clicking on each volume in disk management and selecting convert to dynamic disk. (it's the boxes with disk 0 and disk 1) After making the disks dynamic right click on your C: drive in disk management and select, "add mirror".

Hmm, can I do that without losing data? I guess I can try that.
Why? You've already got the state-of-the-art in both types of drives.

Yes and you can turn around and break the mirror if you want without problems. You do have to delete the volumes if you want to return them to basic.

Okay, I followed your procedure and was able to change both discs to dynamic. However, I still was not able to create the "mirror" volumes due to my OS. When I checked another online source, it says that feature isn't available with W7 Home Premium, rather, only on Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate should I care to upgrade.
