    Hey just a quick question, I'm about to buy a sea gate external 1.5tb locally and the person received as a gift and he hasn't opened it, so i was wondering if by any chance I have to mess with the manufacturer do they make you send in the drive as well as like a receipt or invoice of some sort to verify it?

    Usually a PoP (Proof of Purchase, such as a receipt/invoice) is needed if the warranty status is showing out of warranty/wrong information.
