    With all the news on battery recalls and fires with dell notebooks I want to try to guard against losing my investment.

    I am using i8kfan, and my HD temperatures are reaching 54 degrees C, and Memory is reaching 58 degrres C. CPU aswell is between 47 and 53. Just wondering if these values are abnormal.

    What kind of computer do you have? Also, are the temperatures under heavy load? My HD is running at 39C right now and my memory at 38C, but I am only listending to music and making posts. My CPU is running at 34C and GPU at 48C. Under gaming though, everything changes. CPU goes over 70C, GPU get to 65C or so. I also have applied Arctic Silver 5 to my memory, GPU, and CPU, so my temps will be a little lower. I also almost always run my notebook with a cooling pad which further helps to reduce temperatures. It would be helpful to know what your notebook is and what load your notebook was on when you got these temps. This will influence the temps as well. Is your battery one of the recalled ones. If so I would just consider buying a cooling pad to use with your notebook in order to keep temps down a bit. I think you CPU and HD are fine, memory I am not sure about, but I think you will be fine.

    Right now doing what I consider light work. Burning a DVD, listening to music, and posting. - My Comp specs are
    Dell E1505 - Core Duo T2500 2GHz, 1 Gb Ram (2 Dimm), 120 Gb HD 5400 rpm, 256 Ati X1400...also checked the battery if it was a recall, but it wasnt listed, so I believe im safe there.

    Burning DVD will heat up your lappy a bit. When you get a chance you might want to see what your idle temperatures are. I know DVD burning will heat up processor and probably HD as well. Do you use a cooling pad?

    No cooling pad. Might consider getting one though if temperatures reach 55+ such as my memory right now.

    Yea, I would, and they are fairly inexpensive. Makes a difference of a few degrees on everything. It will cool down your RAM for sure.

    No problem, if you want, I can get some temps of my lappy under full load. I am not sure what my HD and RAM get to. I know I have seen my HD around 55C as well before.

    Well I ran CoD2 and HL2: Episode 1 for a bit and I got these temps.
    GPU = 64C
    CPU = 70C
    RAM = 45C
    HD = 45C
    Now, as I said I have applied AS5 and I am sitting on a cooling pad. Without those, the temps would probably be 5-10C higher. The reason for your higher mem temp, which is the only one that is substantially higher than mine is probably for two reasons. First, you have two sticks of RAM and I only have one, you will probably produce a little more heat because of that. Second, your video card is faster than mine and will produce more heat as well. These two factors combined may just well be you have a higer mem temp than mine. As I said before though I think you are fine. I would definately get a cooling pad though for when you are just sitting at a desk or whatever with your lappy. Definately helps!
