I have the Alienware Area 51M 766, it has a Mobility Radeon 9600. I want to order a GeForce Go 7800 GTX. Is it Possible to replace the 9600 with the geforce go 7800 gtx? Just wondering i know my computer has upgradeable graphics but will the geforce fit into my system? If i cannot do this what would be a comparable upgrade that i could do? I definately want quite a bit more graphics power. Thanks!

I really doubt it, as the 7800 is a MXM-III type card, and the MR9600 is.....errrr....no clue.

Phone or email Alienware and ask of the possibilities

No it's not upgradeable even though the 9600 has it's own Dedicated memory it's part of the motherboard. The only way to get a upgradeable graphics card for a notebook is to buy a notebook that is PCI Express.

First of all, it is upgradeable. Not sure where some of you are getting your info, but for the most part it is wrong. You can upgrade: to the 9700 whoopie. Lucky you. Please do not respond with my opinion of my alienware as i have had it apart 4 times fixing it and do not have time to write the novel. Check complaints.com for my thread if you are looking for interesting reading.

The graphics card is a removable module that is not changable in the 766 to anything other than the 9700. Alienware only made the other card possible to save the lawsuits, i believe. If you need a replacement card and or fan for your video card, don't call them as they will refuse to sell them. (Saving them for systems under warranty, told to me directly from alienware) as i spent 3000+ for the piece of ****.

There are a few vendors out there that have a few of the other cards, the nvidia which would be a swap and an upgrade of the newer 9700.

    GOOD LUCK

I need a replacement NVIDIA 5700 FX GO, anyone know where to find one? Or a step up from that, if available, which I doubt? Area51 766 here.
