I debating with myself if this is upgrade worth getting or not?

    So Specs Are.
    C2D P8700 oc at 3.0Ghz (Setfsb)
    6 GB's of ram
    OCZ SSD (On it way)
    Nvidia 260M GTX
    Display 1600X900

I don't alot multitasking to much
Put I do have alot apps running at one time.
    Typical Day I have running
    Steam
    - Game of choice
    Skype
    AIM
    Chrome.
    Utorrent

    Odds i'm uncompressing via winrar

Also There is this Gskill memory with Heatspreader on it
    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Laptop Memory Model F2-4200CL4S-2GBSK

    Are those worth it?

    My concern is just games.
So I been debating Fast dual-core 3.0ghz or slow maybe OCable Quad.

It depends on how much the upgrade is. Some games run faster on 2 higher clocked cores. While a few run faster on a lower clocked quad. For your needs, i'd stick with a dual core.

get a Q9000... it's perfect for OCing to 2.53GHz in G51 which i have seen as long as u don't have a best but G72.. it should do everything quite well when OCed.. as for RAM , why would u want 533MHz DDR2 RAM when u can get 800MHz one which is better of course for ocing too..

That G-Skill ram is slow, I would try to get some 800mhz ram CL5.

I think You can't upgrade to a quad. Look at NBR ASUS G72GX owners thread.

If there is not sufficient airflow then it will make it worse, but IF you have overheating problems and a decent airflow over the ram modules then it will make a noticeable difference.

go on the asus forum and ask other owners of G72 how they cooled it... if u don't have the BB model u certainly can take a Q9000 and OC it... i have seen ppl with G51 and G72 use Q9000 at 2.53GHz.

my point is there are some with 2.53GHz but that besides the point.. Also silentnite2608 , consider the thermaltake massive 23 notebook cooling pad.. heard it one big monster able to cool a G73 easily... so ur G72 should be much cooler... also u might want to check ur mobotherboard model etc using PC wizard 2010... this is getting into i don't know teritory for me so this is all i can say.
