Hello. I have had my 9349 for over a year and I need to squeeze some more life out of it. I currently do not have the money for a new computer or the desire for a new one yet. I bought it because it was the fastest computer available to me at the time and I had no other option. I have upgraded to 4 GB of RAM and upgraded the two 120 GB 5400 RPM hard drives to 320 GB 7200 RPM hard drives. Otherwise it is the standard model with T7100 processor and 8700 GT graphics card. Now I am looking for advice on upgrading the processor.

I know I can upgrade to anything in the T7x00 series and have read that I can possibly upgrade to the T8x00 or T9x00 series processors. My question is, can I upgrade to a T9500 or T9600? If not, what is the fastest processor I can upgrade to. I'm not interested in opinions regarding price, just if my motherboard is capable of handling one of those processors.

Please let me know and please keep opinions regarding price versus performance to yourselves; after I know the processor I can upgrade to I will take the price versus performance into consideration before I make my purchase.

    Thank you.

The X205 can support most socket P processors
You can upgrade to any Santa Rosa processor you like.

Go to Toshiba's website and download the latest BIOS for your system. It should have support for the 45nm processors

You should be able to upgrade to a T9300/T9500 if you so desire

If you can find a real good price in CPU, then go for the upgrade, if not, save the money for some apps or towards a new comp eventually. Check out if you need a BIOS upgrade in some models when considering a higher CPU.

    cheers ...

You can put in 45nm cpu's into an x205. I actually had to work on an x205 and it came with a t8300 in it.
