I am new to the forum. I am hoping someone can point me to where I might find some performance comparisons between processors. I am researching to purchase a new laptop and the choices I have include

    [*]T6600 2.2 GHz, 2MB cache
    [*]P8600 2.4BHz, 3MB chache
    [*]T9550 2.66 GHz, 6MB cache

I am not sure what each of these processors can do for me. This will be a personal use laptop for photo editing and storage, gaming, and general internet use (research, downloads, email etc).

Thanks for any information you can offer.

Go for the P8600 - considered a VERY good CPU, the T9550 isn't worth it ( assuming it costs like more than 100 $ more), even the 6 MB L2 cache will make only slight difference - from that I saw on the forums - it will grant you only up to nearly 10 % improvement over CPU with 3 MB L2 cache and I have photo and video editing in mind - what you stated, you intend to do.

P8600 Ftw. Less expensive less heat, sufficient performance (and no crappy half multipliers ;-))

Any of them are fine for your needs except for "gaming". You have to take the video card into consideration. Shared video is not exactly the best choice for gaming.
