Ok so I need some help with my Laptop, I wasn't sure if this was the right place to put it but here goes.

I've had a Evesham Nemesis for a while now, normally runs perfectly except for the power supply seems to be tempramental at the back, occasional it loses connection and I have to fiddle around with it in order to get it connected again. the battery is rubbish and usually dies within about 3 minutes of losing Mainline power.

I noticed the laptop was quite hot today so had a look with Everest and it was slightly over heated, nothing to be concerned about, but then the computer just switched off, I booted up again and it did the same thing, after a couple of times of turning the laptop on and it booting up and getting to my desk top I noticed that there was no lights on the power button, It wasn't orange or anything. so I unplugged the power supply, switched on the laptop, the button flashed orange and nothing happened, reading the manual it tells me that this happens because the battery is dead. now the power supply was plugged in and the LED for the pwer supply was glowing on my laptop. but the power on button was not lit at all when ever the laptop had been booted up in the last 5 minutes.

The LED for the power supply then vanished and when I pressed the on button nothing happend at all. so there is nothing happening at all now. no power is getting into the laptop.

however on the Power supply brick there is a green light on, so the power supply is on.

I noticed that the brick casing is coming apart in the middle where it runs around, and also when the casing opened it smelled kind of sweet.

I really have no Idea what to do here, is it the laptop or my power supply unit that is damaged? I have a spare power supply unit on the way but I am worried it's not going to make a difference, I mean this is nearly 2 grands worth of equipment and the warranty ran out in 2009.

    Can anybody help me? :(

    Thanks, Marc.

Just because the green light is on in the power supply doesn't mean it is functioning properly.

Looks like your power supply and maybe even your notebook is done for.

Is there anyway to test/borrow a known good power supply to see if the notebook is working?

With the problems you indicated the notebook had anyways, it's time for a new system (I'm guessing).

Don't worry though - a new system today will be much better performing, run cooler and will not cost anywhere close to $2K.

Hope I'm proved wrong, but I would not put a penny more into this system (the way you described it).

    Good luck.

Do you really think it's the Laptop as well as the Power supply? I mean it's been running pretty much smoothly despite the occasional crashes, I'm really not in the position to buy a new Laptop at the moment.

I do have another power supply that I left at my nan's house, so once that arrives I can test it out.
