I have a problem with my touchpad. My tap-to-click doesn't seem to work properly (it doesn't work all the time... sometimes I have to tap 4 or 5 times for it to work). However, what is odd is that if I uninstall my driver, tap-to-click works perfectly. If someone could shed some light on this matter I would be grateful.

What is the touchpad driver you're using?
Have you tried updating to the latest touchpad drivers ?

I'm using the driver that came with the laptop. The fact is that it worked for about 2 months and then, all of a sudden, it started to behave the way I said above.

Drivers that come with laptops are sometimes outdated.
It's always possible that something suddenly stops working (because some software has changed for example)

If you go in the device manager under "mouse", do you see that it's a Synaptic touchpad?

    Yes, it's a synaptic touchpad.

Tried it. It's the same with this driver. I also tried reinstalling windows, but no luck.

Seems to be hardware-related but you say that it works OK when removing drivers...
    (touchpad works without drivers?)

Yup. The only problem is that I can't use scrolling and other advanced features but other than that, it works fine.
