I have a strange problem with a new (4weeks) battery. Laptop: Thinkpad X40. Battery: high capacity "compatible".

Charging: percentage capacity grows slowly from 0 to 50. Then it jumps to 100.
Dischargning: percentage capacity goes from 100 to 50. Then the laptop dies without warning.

I am not 100% sure whether this was from the very beginning, because I rarely completely empty the battery.

Anyone knows these signs? Is the battery broken?
