    Hello everybody,

I recently bought a Lenovo N100 and have a major problem with it: the screen bends in when pressure is applied from the outside and since I stuff it in my Timbk2 Commuste with all of my books, there is constant pressure on the notebook. Lately I noticed some lines on the screen and figured out those were the keyboard outlines which are basically scrachting the screen....

    Any suggestions?
(I thought of constructing a topless and bottomless plastic box that would hold the computer's width constant and won't give in to the pressure, does such a thing exist? Is there a specific sleeve that offers this type of protection without being too bulky? (the laptop barely fits in the Timbuk2 laptop compartment without a sleeve))

    Thank!

You can try to get one of the cloths that you can place between the keyboard and the LCD. Screen Protectors won't work in this scenario

    Thanks for your reply.
Is this the kind of thing I can just use any cloth lying around of do I need to buy a special micro-fiber one?

Right, getting a more rigid bag/sleeve is a good start to protecting your notebook. What is happening to your N100 right now is not good for it at all.
As long as the cloth is thin enough that it does not hinder the screen from being closed as it normally is, then I would say anything. Just make sure it is clean and does not have any sort of oil/substances on it.

    Thanks for your replies,

My bag is a messenger bag so the notebook is not under the books it is simply place between my back and the book... and it's get pretty tight when my bag is full.

I'm going to try and find a different bag/sleeve though I'm really disappointed with this "ingenious" design of a bendable screen (The main reason I bought a Lenovo was becuase of it's renoun build quality but I guess I should have spent the xtra $300 and bought an actual thinkpad... :( )

Does this happen to all laptops? the MacBooks seem pretty solid and tight when closed...

    Thanks again!

depends how hard you press it. Press hard enough and any laptop will bend. My 15" T43 shows no bending with reasonable load, but if you are really packing stuff in it might be more.

Might need either a larger bag or fewer books. Most things that are thin are not very rigid, so unless you put a piece of plywood or something in your bag to keep the books from the laptop, you are likely to still get uneven pressure.

I do put a large binder between the books and the laptop and there's build-in padding in the timbuk2 but it is still fairly tight...

Any suggestions for compact hard-shell sleeves?

    Thanks again
