Title says it all. How does the Pentium M 770/780 perform against Core Duo T2050 and the likes?

I've been running a Core Duo T2050 for 2 years so I know how it compares to most cpu's. The fastest Pentium M i've used is a 2.0ghz 760 and it was weaksauce compared to the T2050. This is to be expected though since Intel's dual cores handily beat any of their mobile single core cpu's. Benchmarks prove this.

The Core Duo outperforms the Pentium M by roughly 20% while yield far better multi-tasking performance. The Core Duo really is the minimum you want to go.

As mentioned, the Core Duo was basically two Pentium M architectures stitched together sharing a cache. Any dual core processor should easily beat a single core processor.

If you’re moving from a Pentium M 770 or 780, then you would want something faster than a 1.6 Ghz 2x 1mb L2 Core Duo CPU, especially if you’re gaming. Yes, that CPU can be upgraded..But you asked about it compared to a Pentium M 780.
