    1) get rid of unneeded processes
    2) restarting the computer always helps
    3) don't run a bunch of programs at once while listening to music (this shouldn't be an issue since you have a new computer)

    1 and 2 usually takes care of it.

    Yeah, I know. Many new computers come with a lot of what is now being dubbed as "bloatware." This means that you get a lot of crap programs being touted as "free software." Many of these programs waste processing time, increase the memory load and irritate you and me.

    If you want to start fresh and not have to deal with all this, back up your data and format your new machine. That way, you will install only the programs you need, not the programs that help a vendor sell notebooks or promote companies.

    yep. i think that. BUt. wat about the drivers?? the notebook only bring a cd called " gateway windows xp media center versio 2005 with update rollup2 operating system disc"
    Use this disc to re-install your operating system..

    with only this cd i can format the notebook and instal windows with all the drivers ??

    Check online, see if you can find updated drivers for your notebook's sound card. Have you checked on Gateway's site for newer drivers for your notebook?

    @iatr86 -

    Try killing processes (cntrl+shift+esc) and dump out what you don't need from your startup folder into the trash. There really isn't anything you might miss from your startup folder.
