I have a nVidia GForce 8600M GS with 512MB. But with 767MB total shared with Turbocashe. plus, when i get 4 gigs of memory, ill have a total of 1767MB shared VRAM. I want to slightly overclock it. Ive heard of programs like GPU-Z, but what do u guys recromend? And how do I do it, also i still want it to last like 4 years still and not get too hot. Also, if i do realize heat, can i undo it? thanks.

GPU-Z does not have an overclocking tool, it simply reads the stats of your graphics card.
To overclock nVidia graphics cards, use Riva Tuner. It allows you to manually overclock the core and the memory of the card. It also has a temperature reading utility, which allows you to see the clock speeds, and temps during games and such.
I would not recommend overclocking your graphics card if you want your laptop to last for four years.

If you insist on overclocking, then maybe 10-20Mhz overclock on the memory and core. You should not overclock much, it can kill your graphics card.

If you wan't your laptop to last that long, I recommend against overclocking, but if you must it shouldn't really shorten its lifespan unless you don't know what you're doing. You can try a moderate overclock, just don't let the GPU temperature get out of hand.

Riva Tuner is what ive heard of, but as said, i wouldnt overclock. Especially if you want it to last 4 yrs. It might only last 2 or 3 if you do.
