    Hello,

I have an old Asus L3800 series which has a DVD rom and now I'd like to upgrade it to a DVDRW but I don't know if it's possible. If it is, what should I look for? Should I look for something specially designed for Asus L3800 series or the model/brand of my laptop doesn't matter?

    Thanks.

    Hello and welcome

I found a picture of your notebook, and by looking at it, I believed it is possible. Of course, there is no perfect bezel for the drive, thats why you have to put the old drive's bezel to the new drive. I done this with my notebook, I went from CDRW/DVD to DVDRW. The brand I got is NEC, no problem with it at all.

Here is where I got it from.

Of course, you can get an external DVDRW to make easier for you.

Thanks for reply. I'm gonna start searching for NEC DVDRW here in Spain (I'm sure here it will be impossible to find something at that price).

I did the same with a Toshiba DVDRW - works fine, too.
    Good luck!
