I'm reading the tech specs but I'm not too familiar with optical drives. Could anyone tell me if the 5500A blu ray drive can burn dual layer DVDs? Thanks very much.

Thanks very much. So now that I know that I can burn the DVD, I need to know if my dad's laptop can read it. Device manager showed his DVD drive to be HL-DT-ST CDRW/DVD GCC4244

Googling that drive found nothing more than driver requests. Could anyone tell me what model of optical drive that is? Thanks.

Edit: Got thrown off by the driver pages; it seems to actually be an LG drive. Still can't figure out if it supports DL though.

Your dad's laptop should be able to read DVD DL eventhough it may not be able to burn it. Just make sure that you finalize the DVD when burning it. When you finalize the DVD, you will use all the capacity of the disc, eventhough you only burn a tiny portion of it, but it will make the DVD more compatible with other drives.
