We have an IBM Thinkpad T21 here at work with only 128MB of RAM (with a 128MB module occupying 1 of the 2 memory slots). According to IBM, the maximum RAM that can be installed is 512MB.

Turns out that it's much cheaper to get 1x512MB module than 2x256MB modules. Is there any reason not to get the single 512MB module?

    The RAM specs are 144-pin, PC100, non-parity.

    No reason at all.

SIMMs need to be installed in pairs, not DIMMs.
