Does anyone know when OEM HD drives will be available. And if they are already available, when they'll better priced to sell.

The thing is, I'm not sure whether or not I should get the HD drive that is optional when I get my new laptop. Cause it's $400 right now, and that's a little too much for me. But it also kinda feels like if I don't get it at install it might be a long while before I can get it OEM.

Yes, Newegg and zipzoomfly sell OEM hard drives. I recently bought a 100GB 7200RPM drive from them and it works nicely

OEM drives have been available for a while. Check places like newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, or zipzoomfly.com for deals.

Generally, 160 GB 5400 RPM drives are sold at $80, and 100 GB 7200 RPM drives are sold at $110.

lol I'm so sorry about this guys. I should have been clearer. I didn't mean HDD drives. I meant HDDVD/Blu-ray drives. heh.

I guess what I should have said was, HD roms? ha I don't know.

Do you mean an HD-DVD/Blu-Ray external drive or an internal optical drive that you can place in your laptop?

If you were wondering about an external drive, just go to newegg.com and look for Blu-Ray external optical drives and burners. They'll set you back $500-$1000 depending on the quality of what you buy.

If you're talking about internal, only some laptops support them, and it'll be impossible to find an optical drive designed just for a certain type of boutique laptop unless it's designed to take it.
