OK.. Not really looking for a "which one is better."
I have more of a installation question. Some of the reviews I have read state getting the OCZ drive up and running can be tedious. Is this an issue with all the versions of the OCZ drive or just a select few?
In contrast, will the Intel be an easy swap using Windows 7?
Im using a Dell 1745, 4 gb ram with a Hitachi 7K500 running windows 7
Second and semi related question.. What is the killer for the SSD, the read or the writes? I assume its the writes, correct? I doubt Id ever have an issue, just more to satisfy my curiousity.

The factor that determines SSD life span is number of writes. Typically MLC ranges in the 1,000s or 10,000s, while SLC is in the 100,000s. What exactly do you mean swap? Just think of a SSD as the same as a HDD except you don't defrag it. Install Win 7 and all programs - then you're set.
-
some of the reviews on newegg say getting the OCZ drives set-up takes some fanagling. Wasnt sure if this is an issue across the board using windows or if its only an issue outside windows 7.

Heres one.....

When installing my Vertex 2 I just made sure it was in AHCI mode before I installed windows (It is by default in the ENVY15 - I can't say for sure about your personal laptop!) and then installed windows and I was set. It was no different than a normal HDD. My Vertex 2 which I received Thursday also came with the most recent firmware 1.10.

How can I check the firmware version for my drive? I need to see if my 1005ha has the AHCI option as well.
My netbook is limited to SATA 1, so I don't get full performance out of my drive anyway. It doesn't matter though, as this drive was more for my next laptop, regardless of that. -
